Dahi Baray Recipe


 Preparation time       30 Minutes

  Serve                            4 

Ingredients:

White lentils 1 cup

Cumin 1 tsp

Salt to taste

Pinch of Backing soda  

Oil for frying

Water for blending


For Yogurt 

Yogurt 500 g

Milk 1/4 cup

Salt to taste


Serve with

Khatti  chatni 

Methi chatni 

Papri

Roasted cumin

Chaat masala


Khatti chatni ingredients:

Soak tamarind pulp 250 g

Cumin powder 1 tsp

Red chili flakes 2 tbsp

Dry ginger powder 2 tsp

Salt to taste


Methi chatni  ingredients:

Tamarind pulp  250 g

Jaggery (gur)  2 tbsp

Dry ginger powder 2 tsp

Cumin powder 1 tsp

Red chili flakes 2 tbsp

salt to taste

Method:

  1. Soak white lentil for hour.
  2. Drain the water wash the lentil, grind lentil in food processor.add water in little amount  till smooth yet.
  3. Add cumin, backing soda, salt, mix it.
  4. Heat oil in a wok on medium heat, use spoon to drop spoonfuls of the better in the oil,cook till golden brown on all sides.
  5. Remove fried baray from the oil and let drain on a tissue paper.
  6. Take a bowl and it fill with water. put a fried baray in the water and let them soak for 10 minutes till the become soft.
  7. After 10 minutes remove baray from water one by one gently squeezing them between your palms to remove the excess water.
  8. In yogurt add milk ,salt whisk them till smooth.

Prepare khatti chatni

  1. Soak tamarind pulp in water for 30 minutes.
  2. Squeeze it with your hand extract all pulp.
  3. Add tamarind water in a pan add cumin powder, salt, red chili flakes, dry ginger powder.
  4. Cook on low heat. until mixture is thick.
  5. Cool dawn.
  6. Khatti chatni is ready.

Prepare Methi chatni

  1. same process of khatti chatni cook on low flame until sugar is dissolved.
  2. cool dawn methi chatni is ready.

Platting up

  1. In a plate place baray.
  2. Add yogurt ,khatti chatni, methi chatni.
  3. Garnish with chaat masala, roasted cumin powder and papri.
  4. Serve it.
