Ingredients:
Onion 3 medium size
Gram flour 1 cup
Red chili powder 1/2 tsp
Coriander leaves 2 tbsp chopped
Green chili 2 chopped
Salt to taste
Water as required
Oil for frying
Method:
- Thinly slice the onion. Add them in a mixing bowl.
- Add green chili, red chili powder, coriander leaves, and salt mix well and make sure all spices are well combined.
- Leave it aside for 5 minutes these help onion release some moisture.
- Add gram flour and mix well, add some water in a bowl and mix well, the slices of onion coated well with flour batter, do not add more water unless required, if the batter becomes too watery pakora will not turn crispy.
- Heat oil in a wok over a medium heat.
- Check if the oil is hot enough in a wok by sliding tiny piece of dough first.
- Take a small portion of the mixture in your hand and gently drop 3 to 4 small fritters into the oil and deep fry until they turn golden brown.
- While frying stir and if needed flip the onion pakora occasionally for even frying.
- Take them out using a slotted and drain the excess oil place them on a paper towel to absorb excess oil.
- Serve onion pakora with chutney and hot tea.
Note:
- The onion needs to be sliced thinly .thin slices will get cooked faster than thick slices and give a crispy texture to the pakora.
- If you prefer even crispier pakora, reduce the amount of water used in the batter.
